How accurate is TimeCamp?
It's as accurate as it gets. TimeCamp gathers informations from active window only, which means it won't send any data from apps working in the background. For example, if you're writing a document in Microsoft Word and have Skype running in the background, TimeCamp will only count the time spent in Microsoft Word. Then, when you switch to Skype, our app will automatically detect that and will start to assign time to Skype instead of Word, which may still be open in the background. Only active window counts.
Same goes to websites. You can have as many bookmarks opened in your browser as you wish, but TimeCamp will only gather data about the website you're actually reading right now.
You also don't need to worry about going idle. TimeCamp will detect lack of activity from your part (when you're not typing on keyboard or moving you're mouse). It does it the smart way though. If you're watching a movie on your computer, you obviously don't want to do anything. TimeCamp understands that and will measure data correctly. Only when there's really nothing going on it stops to count time and starts measuring offline activities.
How to change productivity or category?
You can assign any activity (application, website, etc.) to a certain category by clicking "All Activities" on the menu in your Dashboard. You can choose from 18 default categories. Then you'll need to decide for yourself which category is productive and which is not - people use computers in different ways. To do that, go to categories panel on your TimeCamp menu by clicking "All Categories".
How to add a new category?
There is no possibility of adding a new category manually at this moment. All of them are made by default. If you have a suggestion about new category, feel free to contact us.
How often is the data refreshed?
TimeCamp Data Collector sends data to our servers every 5 minutes. If you don't want to wait right-click on TimeCamp application icon on your Windows toolbar and choose the "Synchronize data now" option.
