Time away from the computer

Besides being a tool to track time spent on the computer, TimeCamp can also help you summarize activities done away from computer as well.

Starting idle time when there's no activity on the computer

An idle time starts, when user does not do anything on the computer, which means there's no mouse or keyboard usage. The default period, after which TimeCamp stops measuring time spent on a certain activity and starts idle time, is 2 minutes. Of course, it can be changed to a different period.

Keep in mind that you'll need administator or group observer privileges to change this value.

Log into your TimeCamp account and select Settings from the upper menu.

When the next data synchronization between your computer and our servers will occur (which is happening every 5 minutes) new settings will apply.

Activities done away from the computer

Function which allows you to gather more detailed informations about idle time is called Off-line time. You'll find it in your group's settings directly below "Idle time". When activated, an pop-up window will appear everytime user comes back to the computer after not working on it for a longer period of time.

Activate the function by checking "log off-line time" option.

Some additional options will appear. Decide how long TimeCamp should wait before asking an user about his off-line activities.

Keep in mind that the window will appear X minutes after the beginning of idle time, not after the last user's activity. That means, that if you set your idle time to 2 minutes and your off-line time to 5 minutes, TimeCamp will require to enter an description of you off-line activities 7 minutes (2+5) after you touched your mouse or keyboard for the last time.

The next thing you'll need to decide is whether you want to allow your users to enter descriptions with their own words (1) or you want to define a couple of options for your users to choose from (2; for example: meeting, conversation, break).
